"Gitwa" is part of a series of directions:  batwa - north, dwetwa - east, gitwa - south, bontwa - west.  Changing one of them would destroy the pattern.
Since 'in front of' is "byotwa", I suggest the currently unused "byopyu" for 'behind, in back of'.

"Batwa" is 'north of, to the north of'.  The others in the series are defined similarly.  Currently undefined "bapyu" could be used as the opposite, with the meaning of 'from the north of'.
