I am under impression that nouns in Modern Hebrew have lost much of
connection with the typical triconsonant root structure. But the verbs still
rely on the triconsonant root pattern very much. The other Semitic languages
seem to preserve consonant root structure as a very typical feature. To say
nothing about lexical borrowings from European languages in Maltese :)
