I've been inspired to do a Semitic conlang based on Arabic, Amharic and Hebrew, in that order of importance. It uses the three-consonant system, but in a much more predictable way than actual Semitic languages like the three mentioned above. Can anyone give me information on how the three-consonant system works in each of these? I'm beginning to understand some Arabic regularities, like how adjectives are usually CaCiC and nouns are (often) CaCaC, and the infinitive is usually yaCCaCa. What are some more of these regularities and how are they handled in Hebrew and/or Amharic? The vocabulary is heavily Arabic, then Amharic and finally a small amount of pure Hebrew words. Where a cognate is found, I am trying to use that (such as d-m for blood in all three or q-r-b for near in Arabic & Amharic). Otherwise, the vocabulary is pretty random: t-l-q - big - from Amharic k-t-b - write - from Arabic r-g-l - foot, leg - from Hebrew Since this is the very very beginning of this project, I'll need a lot of info...
