Well, if you accept that the Roman Catholic Church continues some of the civil structures
of the old Empire, you might be interested in Cestus Dei (John Maddox Roberts)...

There was also a Star Trek episode where one of the many mirrorearths the Enterprise
visited was a mid 20th century Roman Empire world. Don't know if that counts!

On this subject, does anyone know the name of a book about a Roman Empire that continues into the space age? I saw it at the library once but now can't find it. I do remember that a group of Jews figured into the plot too.
