I have seen a nominative/oblique distinction (e.g. French) but never direct/indirect. BUT - It would be a shame to have only a General case and a Genitive case - it seems to move the language too far away from its real-life counterpart. It is especially annoying that the genitive case has perhaps the 'weakest' raison d'etre thanks to all the posessive pronouns - it was already starting to disappear in VL for that reason (?). But a German-like language with no cases? That just doesn't feel right! Perhaps that is just what would have happened whether I like it or not... Pete
