I definitely hear the diphthong in _nuit, suivre_ etc. as [w] in spite of knowing better. OTOH I tend to pronounce it disyllabic as [8i], but that may be because [B_o] in the diphthong [8B_o], functioning as the 'long' allophone of /8/ is the closest thing to [w] *or* [H] that my L1 possesses (its _j_ being usually [z\]. -- /BP 8^)> -- Benct Philip Jonsson -- melroch at melroch dot se "Maybe" is a strange word.
