Btw, a really serious trouble with Karaites (at least Crimean and Halician ones) is that they have almost completely lost their Jewish identity, seeing themselves as a Turkic ethnic group with an odd religion. In contrast to Mountain Jews who speak an Iranian language but remain distinctly Jewish. -- Yitzik
