Yes, their relation to Sanskrit is more like the presence
of Spanish, Latin or English words in Tagalog, i.e. as
borrowings from a prestige language.
In fact the ancient grammarians of Tabil were at pains to
point out that Tamil was equally divine as Sanskrit! :)
