Admittedly, the orthography is not trivial at all, and requires a serious amount of CPU time to parse. ;-) However, the estrangement of spelling vs pronunciation has happened to many European languages (French, English, Gaelic...), so I guess that only adds a measure of realism. =) As for beauty, I'm rather fond of diphthongs such as ae, oe, io, eo etc, the use of which would have to be reduced in future spelling reforms. =P > On the other hand, it gives the language a flavour of > Maggelity :) > My problem is just that I am not fond of reading huge amounts of > X-SAMPA in > order to get an impression of a language. Then I'd suggest you listen to the spoken version of the Pater Noster, accessible from my langs page. Anyway, once you get a feeling for the language, you can read it rather fluently even with the non-trivial spelling. For instance, it took me only 2-3 attempts each to record those Pater Noster lines. > I had never seen your main page. As a matter of fact, I didn't > even know it > existed! Very beautiful. You might have seen the older web design... I changed the appearance of the site only a few days ago. The old version is still available in the graphics section. > Should I mention the fact that I'm quite impressed also by the > beauty of both > Jovian and Obrenje fonts? Whether or not you should mention that is entirely your decision. In case you decide to mention it, |muodan graezan| [,mu@d@N"grajD@n]. =) > And at last, what does "Cinga" mean? Nothing at all. I chose the name purely for visual and acoustic aesthetics. Later, I gave my first conlang Obrenje a palatization pattern so that the spelling |cinga| ["siNga] would even make sense. I have yet to assign a meaning. -- Christian Thalmann
