For names of 2-9 syllables, a leading particle indicates the beginning/ending in consonant/vowel, and it's followed by a monosyllabic, one-digit number that indicates the number of syllables, and then the name. For more-than-nine-syllable names, the keyword approach is used. Here are some details (in its current form): FOREIGN NAMES: Both encapsulation and conciseness are paramount NOTES: 1) count syllables in the name as pronounce in isolation, without the leading and/or trailing letters added. 2) If the name begins in vowel, a consonant must be added at the beginning (usually "H", because it's quite unobstrussive) 3) If it ends in conosonant, a vowel (usually "U", because it's the consonant cluster breaker) may or may not be added (only if necessary). 4) When a keyword is used, it must be monosyllabic (unless indicated otherwise by the particle "Suei", before liai, liei,..etc). One-syllable foreign names: la+H+name: begins and ends in vowel. Discard initial consonant (for instance,"H") le+H+name(+U): begins in vowel, ends in consonant. Discard initial consonant (f.i.,"H") and final vowel (f.i: "A") if present. lo+name: begins in consonant, ends in vowel. li+name(+U): begins and ends in consonant Discard final vowel (f.i: "U") if present. example: Ann:lehan OR lehanu (when followed by -n or other consonant that makes it convenient to add a vowel) two-syllable foreign names: lia+H+name: analogous lie+H+name(+U): " lio+name: " liu+name(+U): " example: Richard: liur'itxard(u) up to nine syllables: lai+number+H+name: analogous lei+H+number+name(+U): " loi+number+name: " lui+number+name(+U): " example: Constantine ("ri" means "3") : luirik'onstantain(u) more than nine syllables: liai+keyword+H+name+keyword: analogous liei+keyword+H+name(+U)+keyword: " lioi+keyword+name+keyword: " liui+keyword+name(+U)+keyword: " example: Donatella (< 9 syllables not required!) : lioikadonat'elaka Regards, Martin Baldan
