Good catch, of course, but now that I've rolled it around, I find an initial "km" almost impossible without a schwa, but "kn" quite easy. Years of Esperanto and German? The Babeltext is fun, but probably the first translations to seriously try shd be from our native tongue. Some Whitman? Gulliver's Travels? H. G. Wells? Edgar Rice Burroughs? Kipling? Mencken?
