I think that for some speakers, "kya" and "twa", for example, are 
going to become "kia" and "tua" with stress on the "i" and "w". So we 
really can't expect these alternatives to remain phonemically 
distinct. And that means we do away with "y" and "w". Which means:

1) We lose the parallelism with the standard English/ASCII alphabet.
2) We end up with words that look like "piauaui" instead 
of "pyawawi", which will make some people giggle.
