From your comments I learn your dialect seems to use quite a different pronounciation from that being taught to foreigners as the 'standard'. When I suggested 'aw' to imitate /o/ as a preferrable option to 'oh', I was referring to that 'standard' way of pronouncing them, i.e. as [O:] for 'aw' and [@U] for 'oh' (or some way pretty close to those).
