I just found this in the Ladekwa reference manual (§24.1):
For the attributive adjective associated with a proper name, we must use the quality suffix "-no". For example, "Larantyenomo woman" means 'French woman' and "Larantyenomo food" means "French food".
So all the problems I had trying to figure out how to say "Frenchman" disappear when I use "French man".
