translation of "dasu" at "joykava"

Rick,
Here is the example sentence at "joykava":

Tega begeni xevi jutamu dasu joykava butimi = Who told you that the truck doesn't work?

Since "dasu" is strictly present tense, wouldn't a better translation be "... the truck isn't working?"?
